Writing a book can be more than daunting. Actually when I began, I saw becoming an author mostly as composing paragraphs and chapters … putting the story in writing …
never truly recognizing that a book is actually a “project” and that it takes so much more to accomplish than the mere writing.
Yet our God is good. He sent Dr. Thomas Harrison! Looking back I’m not sure what I would have done without his expertise. “I need a website to publicize my book but
how in the world will I get that done?” I lamented. Ah, but yet, Thomas was there for me, complete with his calm, relaxed tones of encouragement all along the way.
He it was who simply took care of that crucial “detail” and so many others like it when I was working to make my dad’s story more than a memory in some folks’ minds.
As if I knew how to bring such a complicated thing into being. Me?
But more than that, Dr. Harrison was also successful in obtaining an interview — no small thing! — with the Tulsa World, the newspaper where I lived and where Dad’s
ministry had been centered. Additionally, as I was
still practicing law, I wondered when I would have the time to actually fulfill any book orders we might receive? Aha. There was Thomas again, quietly
offering to handle that issue as well.
But more importantly in a huge way, in many respects he simply took upon himself obtaining other interviews, book signing in stores, speaking engagements and any
number of other sundry issues which were lost on me at the time. Certainly one of the reasons that
my book has done well can be placed directly at the feet of Dr. Harrison and I owe him much.
And of course his expertise runs in so many other areas as well, certainly not limited to helping hapless, would be authors like me. I’ll simply say I’m thankful that
the Lord placed Dr. Harrison in my path. Should you require
such assistance, I heartily recommend him to you! And, Dr. Harrison is one of the most honest individuals I have ever encountered. I find that more
refreshing than I can say.
